Mastering the Art of Prosperity:
Getting Rich Internally
“The strongest single factor in prosperity consciousness is self-esteem: believing you deserve it, believing you will get it.” – Jerry Gillies
Do you ever wonder if you’re prosperous enough?
Maybe you think that the only way to be truly prosperous is to have a ton of money.
But what if I told you that true prosperity has nothing to do with money?
What does it mean to be prosperous?
The word prosperity is one of those terms that has a very different meaning for everyone. For most people, we often associate prosperity with money and financial wealth. However, it is only one of its components, a very small but significant one.
Of course, money matters when it comes to prosperity—you can’t feel prosperous if you can’t meet your basic human needs like food and shelter. However, there is so much more to prosperity than simply accumulating money. Most financially wealthy people will agree that money and possessions do not fill them up or provide them with any sense of meaning or purpose. You can have a lot of financial wealth and still not feel prosperous. There is something much deeper that brings a feeling of prosperity.
This deeper thing is called happiness or joy; this feeling comes from knowing who you truly are, what your purpose is in life, where you are going and how you are getting there and having the ability to share this journey with others.
What brings about this feeling?
True prosperity is about having all the things in life that truly matter: health, relationships and purpose. It’s having enough for ourselves and our families; knowing we will be able to meet our basic needs of food and shelter; feeling confident in our ability to make good choices; having freedom from worry about our future; having access to opportunities for learning and personal growth; being able to give back to others through service or contributions.
Prosperity also means being part of a balanced economy where we’re engaged in our community and encourage growth that provides opportunity for everyone to succeed. Prosperity begins with a mindset, but it requires action. It’s about the choices we make: how we see the world, how we build our own lives and our interactions with others, how we engage in our communities – socially and economically, how we work together to make life healthier for all of us.
Achieving these things doesn’t just happen because you have the right amount in your bank account—it’s something you have to work at every day! It’s possible to feel prosperous at almost every level of income. Time and time again numerous studies have proven that those who are more connected with others and with their thoughts tend to lead happier lives overall.
In the end, it’s about finding what you value in life, and living your life according to that value. It’s about defining your own prosperity, and then making choices and using money that aligns with this personal definition. Becoming more prosperous is a journey; it isn’t a destination. Yet it is a journey we can travel with excitement and hope.
